Clinging and shyness

This is really common at moments of change – for example the first few days at the childminders or nursery

Also, being shy when meeting people (even grandparents) and hiding behind you with a fearful expression, is quite normal

How you handle it can make the difference between it being an issue that passes and results in a more confident child or something that gets worse.

Also we have to remember that children have different personalities, just like we do. Some are more cautious and feaful than others – they will grow up to be kind and sensitive adults, and probably very good at spotting risks and dangers.
