What about when my child goes to school?

Many parents worry about what might happen when their child goes to school or nursery.

In fact, it can be much easier than you might think.

Once they start school, send them for a nutritious and free school meal rather than a packed lunch. They are free for all pupils until Primary 4. School menus are both realistic and well balanced.

With only 2 or 3 choices available and other pupils eating, it is likely that sending them for school meals will lead to new foods being accepted, even though these had previously been refused at home. The fact that you, as their parent, are not present, but their peers are, might well tip the odds in favour of them making good progress.

The same is often true of nursery snack.

You can find menus and photos of each meal by searching  for “School meals” on the Highland Council website.
